Hello all x Well I got here safe and sound after a crazy journey, leaving Manchester early on a half empty plane, then having a delay in Abu Dhabi, then a packed flight to Doha with a 20 minute line to get through security and to check your working visa. Plus side was that when I walked out to luggage claim there was mine, making its merry way around the carousel!! Woohoo!!
We, and I mean me and the 10 other people I met along the way made our way out to the arrivals hall were we we're greeted by a good contingent of the Newton Schools. They were all lovely and chatted away to us. I got an advance payment of my wages, 500QR, which is about £90, depending on the exchange rate to last me the month. Good job I had taken my all savings in Qatari money isn't it?! With that, I went and bought a Qatari Sim, much cheaper to keep in touch with everyone new and the staff.
Next, we went out into the unreal Doha heat...and stood in it for about 15 minutes while the buses were found and we were loaded on.
Then off we went to the apartments!! Now, I know I've read about the crazy driving in Doha but what we experienced was something quite on another level... The driver of the bus didn't know where he was going so was following the bus in front. He weaved in and out and just kept slamming on the breaks!! Totally crazy!!
We finally got to the apartments and everyone and all the luggage was loaded off. There's 2 buildings on my block that house Newton staff. Villa Moda, which has a swimming pool on the roof, and Al Rayyad which has a gym. Can you guess which on I ended up in?! Yes... The one with the gym!! Just what you want when it's 42 degrees!!
So that's it... I've arrived!! Will update later about the apartments and what I found when I got here, it makes an interesting story so will write about that later x Lots of Love x x
